The mudskipper is a small amphibious fish found in mangrove swamps, mudflats, and estuaries in tropical and subtropical regions. It can breathe through its skin and the lining of its mouth and throat, allowing it to survive both in water and on land. Mudskippers are known for their ability to “walk” on mud using their strong pectoral fins and can jump short distances. They feed on small invertebrates and algae and are active during the day.
