Refugium is a graphic novel series created by Simon Roy, Jordan K. Walker, and Sergey Nazarov and a collaborative project with speculative evolutionary artists like Alex Ries (Known for the Birrin Saga and creature designs for Subnautica), C.M. Kösemen (Snaiad, All Yesterdays and All Tomorrows), and Ripley Cook (Birgworld) that explores the extraterrestrial semi-terraformed planet of Altamira, formerly advertised as the Planet of Opportunity before an intergalactic war left its citizens stranded with little advanced technology and at the mercy of its native biota.

Rasp: A clade of mesoskeletal, quadrupedal, and endothermic insectoids with scraping radula.
Grappler: A clade of mesoskeletal decapodal, and endothermic insectoids with 4-6 raptorial appendages and beaks.
Pentaped: A clade of endoskeletal, pentapedal, and mesothermic insectoids with photosynthetic back sails.
Pinwheel: A clade of radially symmetrical, exoskeletal, and heterothermic insectoids that act as detritivores.
Squilloid: A clade of mostly-aquatic, exoskeletal, metamorphic, and heterothermic insectoids with a wide range of body plans and life cycles.
Krakisto: The largest predatory Grappler on Altamira.
