Between desire and danger
I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the glowing screen. My fingers hovered over the phone, as if by touching it, I could somehow reach out and bridge the distance between Sora and me. There she was, draped in that tight red dress, legs crossed, her smile as enchanting as ever. The picture captured her so perfectly, almost too perfectly. But how in the hell had she found me again, so fast? How did she know where I was, right down to the hotel bar? That was definitely here, in this hotel.
Yuki had been so thorough. After rescuing me from that damned cabin in the woods, she’d cut me off from everything, no phones, no contact, nothing. She’d locked me down tighter than I thought possible. But now Sora... she was just downstairs, waiting.
I had to see her. Something about her pull was impossible to resist, even now. I could get past the guards, I told myself. Slip past them, hit the elevator, and head straight down to the bar. How hard could it be? Besides, what could Sora possibly do to me now? She was in that impossibly tight dress, with lace stockings underneath. Unarmed, surely. There was no way this was a threat... was it?
I crept toward the door, heart racing. My pulse was drumming in my ears, drowning out every rational thought. Slowly, carefully, I turned the handle, pulling the door just wide enough to peek through. The hallway stretched before me, silent. I held my breath.
