“Mike the Headless Cock” was a rooster in Colorado, USA, that in 1945 miraculously survived for 18 months after most of its head was accidentally cut off. The farmer’s axe missed the brain stem and the jugular vein, allowing Mike to remain able to balance, walk, flap his wings, and even make faint, muffled crowing sounds. Realizing the cock was still alive, the farmer began feeding and watering him with a dropper.
