Red's a D&D character I rolled up and used as a PC for a couple of years. for quite a while. He didn't really get a end to his story as the campaign just faded away as some D&D campaigns do. But I figured I'd bring him back to life (so to speak - he's already a dead guy) here on CivitAI so I can continue his tales!
Since he's gotten some love from the CivitAI community, I thought I'd share his background story (or what I remember of it) so others know what he's all about - and, who knows? It might be helpful when writing prompts as well.
TL;DR WARNING! LOTS OF WORDS AHEAD!
Red, the Ever-living
Aliases: Red the Destroyer, Ahmin-Red, Mumm-Ra the Ever-living
Role: The Lich who brings death with him, Razer of cities, destroyer of civilizations
Class: Lich/Wizard/Pyromancer
Category: Immortal, Myth, Reaper of Souls
Legend:
Ahmin-Red was once a human. Skilled in mercantile and known among his peers for his sage-like knowledge and advice. While he was born with no magical abilities, through an arduous amount of discipline and study he completed the wizard's trials and became an enchanter and advisor to house Caerwyn. Shortly after being appointed as a bannerman to house Caerwyn, he found love in the tender embrace of Musa, a beautiful enchantress he had met while studying for the wizard's trials.
Ahmin-Red was often away - consulting and advising mostly, but was skilled in coercion and manipulation magics he used to gain an upper-hand in diplomatic and commercial endeavors. During his travels, his identity as a magic-user was revealed and he was labeled a follower of Lillium after he failed to enchant the Lord of another noble house - the house of Varennes.
Fearing he had put his family in danger, he fled from his captors - but only after he was forced to kill two members of house Varennes in order to escape what would have undoubtedly become a life-long imprisonment in the Varennes dungeons.
He returned to his home only to find it in ashes. Burnt to the ground with his wife and two children's scorched skeletal remains tied to trees on the border of his lands - they had not died well...
Ahmin-Red then vowed vengeance for this disproportionate retaliation for using a simple charm spell on a noble lord. He swore to one day have the ability, the armies, the power - whatever was required to avenge his innocent family. From that point on, he referred to himself as simply "Red" as his title of Ahmin or "teacher" did not suit him. He knew that his wife Musa's father was considered to be a corrupt and dishonorable warlock who was banished from every civilization across the realm to the ends of the world itself. That is where Red would start. He would find Musa's father and attempt to gain what power and influence he could under his new identity.
Red eventually found Musa's father, made a bargain with a demon to uncover his natural magical potential, mastered the elemental arts of evocation and pyromancy, rallied an army to his side, only to become deathly ill before he had avenged the lives of his long forgotten family who had been murdered almost 40 years prior.
Red would not live through the next winter without some intervention - something to give him the longevity to complete his task. Though his years of studying the arcane arts, he had found the grimoire that contained the incantations and rituals required to trap his own soul in an object - a phylactery so his body would become simply a vessel. A vessel as easily exchanged as a flask meant to hold liquids. He would become an immortal lich. The arcane rights and magical wards required took almost the rest of his remaining life, but Red was successful. He was now an immortal lich - able to return to life regardless of the physical condition of his flask-like body.
When all of these conditions were met and Red had the power to annihilate the lord of Varennes and everyone else responsible for the intolerable wrongs he had suffered in his former life, he realized that none of these things mattered...
The lord of Varennes and everyone he had ever met was long dead, The lord's name was barely whispered anymore, forgotten - destroyed entirely by time itself. All his discipline, all his work, all the terrible things he had done to get to this point.... All in vain - there was no more enemy to exact revenge upon, no family members of the lord had been alive for 2 generations. And now all Red had left was time. Infinite time filled with unresolved hatred/
Red had carved a hole in the world where some lord of some noble house that couldn't even recall the name of previously lived and remained there without a purpose. No reason to live and now unable to die, Red had no interest in anything other than to be left alone.
The demon Red previously had bargained with had not forgotten about Red's debt, however. The Demon lord Candraphon visited Red, and after two immortal beings try to kill each other for long enough, they do the same as everyone else... They spoke to one another. It's unknown what deal was struck, but where Redd appears, the Candraphon follows shortly thereafter bringing nothing but misery, pain and death with him.
It's been centuries since Red was last seen, but every catastrophe, every disaster or "Act of God" that extinguishes life on the world is soon considered to be Red's impotent wrath, destroying and burning everything around him until it becomes as hollow and scorched as he.
If you made it through all of that, then good for you!
I think he's a lot of fun to prompt and am working on expanding his dataset. I have a running bounty for him that ends on Apr 30, 2025.
