The Jiangshi, often referred to as the "hopping vampire" or "hopping zombie," is a creature from Chinese folklore that both fascinates and terrifies. These reanimated corpses are said to hop because of the stiffness of their limbs, a result of rigor mortis, making them a distinctive presence in horror tales. Their appearance is often characterized by greenish-white decaying skin, long claws, and a talisman stuck to their foreheads, inscribed with spells to control their movements. Jiangshi are known to suck the life force, or "qi," from living beings to sustain themselves. Legends describe various ways to fend them off, such as using mirrors, peach wood, or the blood of a black dog.
