The middle option in this series. My main recommendation is Patina E9; Poise E7 is the alternative when you want a less forceful treatment of maturity and wear.

  • Patina E9: my recommended starting point for stronger presence, age, fatigue, and lived-in character.

  • Poise E7: a balanced option for attractive adult characters, visible fatigue, quiet scenes, and different rendering media.

  • Muse E5: worth trying when E7 still makes the subject look too mature or tired, or when you prefer softer portrait styling.

These are sibling epochs from the same training line. Their capabilities overlap substantially; the differences are mostly in how they interpret the character.

Base model: KREA2 Turbo

What Poise Does Well

Poise E7 offers a useful balance between appealing character design and visible physical condition. It can produce a polished formal portrait, an ordinary workshop woman, or a convincingly exhausted person without requiring a different LoRA for each.

Its stronger areas include:

  • Character introduction images and quiet indoor scenes.

  • Mature faces with readable structure, expression, and fatigue.

  • Formalwear, layered clothing, glasses, jewelry, books, and other character props.

  • Two-person scenes with distinguishable identities and clothing.

  • Full anthro characters with clear fur, fabric, and metal separation.

  • Complex compositions involving a person, a weapon, animals, and an environment.

  • Watercolor, ink wash, oil painting, impasto, graphic illustration, and fashion sketch.

E7 already handles substantial fatigue. E9 is worth trying for a heavier treatment, rather than because E7 cannot make someone look tired.

Known Weaknesses

  • Balanced does not mean neutral. It still brings preferred faces, styling, and moods into the prompt.

  • Explicit age is not reliably locked. White-haired characters and tired adults can look older than requested.

  • Skin is not automatically matte. Cheeks, forehead, hands, and exposed shoulders can retain pronounced shine.

  • Attractive or formal characters may become more styled, camera-aware, or glamorous than intended.

  • Simplification can go too far. In the gouache portrait test, one of the two images omitted the eyes.

  • Graphic poster prompts sometimes retain too much detailed facial modeling instead of simplifying into large shapes.

  • Recurring face types appear within tuxedo, skater, desk, and club portraits.

  • Fine anatomical detail can be exaggerated, particularly sinewy forearms and elongated fingers.

It shares the other epochs' difficulty with certain literal constraints. Subtle tiger traits became full anthro anatomy, and a bound-chest instruction was replaced by exposed cleavage in the crime-boss test. Strong visual coherence does not mean every requested detail survived.

When to Choose E7

Choose Poise when E9 gives you more age, exhaustion, severity, or physical wear than you want, but E5 feels a little too soft or polished.

It is useful for everyday character portraits, mature adults, quiet relationships, practical settings, and moving between semi-realistic and painterly work.

If E7 repeatedly makes a white-haired or tired character look older than intended, Muse E5 is worth trying. That is an alternative tendency, not a guaranteed age correction.

Prompting Notes

Describe the intended character before piling on atmosphere. Age, facial structure, body type, clothing, and condition should be explicit when they matter.

For stylized work, describe the rendering itself: sparse ink masses, matte gouache shapes, transparent watercolor washes, or thick physical paint.

Check the result for both appearance and fidelity. A beautiful face can still be the wrong age, and a convincing costume can still miss an important body or clothing instruction.

Tested Settings and Other Bases

The comparison used 66 prompts and 132 images per epoch, with different seeds across epochs. The findings describe tendencies in this batch, not guaranteed outcomes.

  • LoRA weight: 1.0

  • Sampler: Euler

  • Sampling steps: 8

  • CFG scale: 1

  • Resolution: 768 x 1152

  • Trigger word: none used

The review describes weight 1.0. Other strengths can be explored, but were not part of this comparison.

Poise was trained on KREA2 Turbo. You can experiment with other KREA2-derived bases, which may change the balance of gloss, realism, texture, and illustration. The base underneath it still matters.
