Inside the ruins of a bombed house, a young girl sits cross-legged on the dusty floor, in front of a broken mirror still hanging on a cracked wall. She holds a tiny music box in her lap, open, though silent. The glass of the mirror is fractured — in each shard, parts of her face are reflected, distorted, yet strangely serene.

Sunlight filters in from a shattered ceiling above, casting golden rays through smoke and dust. Around her lie scattered toys, half-burnt pages of a book, and a pair of worn shoes. The floor is covered in ash and delicate watercolor stains that resemble tears or ink-spilled memories.

The scene is painted in a haunting, painterly style: impasto textures on the broken wall, delicate blush tones on her face, and rich contrast between warmth and devastation. Her presence is still, almost holy, like a silent prayer in chaos.

Influenced by Francisco Goya’s emotional realism, Carne Griffiths’ organic ink textures, and Serge Marshennikov’s soft light.
